We are celebrating some outstanding achievements of our talented mathematicians. In May, the Junior Maths Competition took place for students in Years 9 to 11, and the results were released recently.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Ethan Sheng (Year 10, Marsden) and Hamish Patel-Smith (Year 11, Averill), who have both ranked in the top 30 nationwide within their respective year groups. This is a fantastic accomplishment.
Our congratulations also go to our Year 9 and Year 10 Mathex teams who participated in the annual competition. With over 60 teams competing in each year group, our students have truly distinguished themselves through their excellent mathematical skills and teamwork.
A special mention goes to our Year 10 teams. The team of Enoch Cham (Year 10, Greenbank), Zach Gleeson (Year 10, Averill), Lochie Turbott (Year 10, Greenbank), and Harrison Wong (Year 10, Marsden) achieved an impressive score of 90 out of 100. They came incredibly close to a podium finish, narrowly missing out on a thrilling run-off for third place.
However, the highlight of our achievements comes from our other Year 10 team – Ian Chen (Year 10, Greenbank), Kai Li (Year 10, Parnell), Ethan Sheng (Year 10, Marsden), and Ethan Ye (Year 10, Marsden) – who have emerged victorious and brought home the Year 10 Cup! This win is especially significant as it marks the first time since 2005 that King’s has secured this achievement. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our senior students and their parents for all the support they gave us at the Barfoot and Thompson Stadium on the competition evening.
