Position Purpose

Provision of high-quality teaching that encourages, supports and promotes student learning and development. Deliver curriculum goals and objectives through effective lesson planning and delivery and within the policies of King’s College.
  
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
  • Prepare lesson plans, develop and manage classroom resources, marking and evaluating students' work, recording results and completing reports and profiles
  • Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and create instructional activities to engage and facilitate learning
  • Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required and in a timely manner
  • Manage student behaviour in accordance with outlined guidelines and escalate if required
  • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the school environment
  • Involvement in a minimum of 2 co-curricular activities within King’s College
  • Models appropriate behaviours in relation to the spiritual elements of King’s College including attendance and engagement with the life of the Chapel

Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching degree (at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) with a current NZ registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Strong ability to use initiative to solve problems, find efficiencies and introduce new ideas
  • Ideally experience in a secondary school
Skills and Competence
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate to parents, teachers, Head of Departments, School Counsellors, and students in a diverse community
  • Demonstrates commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership
  • Ability to develop a learning/ pastoral environment that fosters creativity and excellence
  • Collaborates and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people
  • Proven ability in mentoring and coaching students, prefects, and student leaders
  • Provides high quality, evidence-based reporting ensuring opportunities, risks and preferred recommendations provide guidance for good decision making
