The Chairman of the King’s College Floreat Semper Fellowship, Rob Fisher, warmly welcomes you to the Floreat Semper Fellowship Autumn Luncheon and 23rd AGM.

Our Floreat Semper Luncheons offer a wonderful opportunity to catch up with contemporaries across a range of year groups onsite at the College so you can continue to experience College life and connect with the College today. Each event includes a Chapel Service, a 3-course luncheon and speeches from two senior prefects and a special guest.

On this special occasion, you will hear from Gordon Walker (Marsden, 1986-90). He is the coach of the five-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Carrington. He recently won the 2024 Budlde Findlay Coach of the Year at the Halberg Awards.

Arrival: 10.45am

Lunch: 12.15pm
Location: King’s College Chapel and the Student Dining Hall
Price: $65 for a single ticket or $120 for a double ticket

Parking will be available along Memorial Drive, but spaces are limited. Please enter through Golf Avenue Main Gates of the College.

This invitation is open to all Floreat Semper members, their spouse or partner, and to King's College contemporaries whom you think would enjoy the occasion.

Membership to the Floreat Semper Fellowship is open to Old Collegians, former King’s College staff members and their spouses or partners and former parents who are 70 years and over (although this event will be extended to 65 and older). A small lifetime membership of $100 (or $10 annually) supports a programme of activities including the popular luncheons held twice a year at the College as well as regular communications.

Gordon Walker is an esteemed canoe racing coach from New Zealand who has played a pivotal role in shaping the career of Olympic champion Lisa Carrington. Walker's expertise and dedication have been instrumental in Carrington's remarkable achievements, including her six Olympic medals and ten world championship titles.

Walker's coaching journey began in 2010 when he first met Carrington, a talented canoeist with immense potential. Recognising her talent and determination, Walker took on the role of her mentor, guiding her through the intricacies of the sport and fostering her growth as an athlete.

Under Walker's guidance, Carrington's skills blossomed, and she quickly rose to prominence in the international canoe racing arena. Walker's meticulous approach, coupled with his deep understanding of the sport, enabled him to tailor training programs that aligned perfectly with Carrington's strengths and aspirations.

Their partnership has evolved into a remarkable collaboration characterised by mutual respect, commitment, and a shared passion for excellence. Walker's ability to connect with Carrington on a personal level has been crucial in unlocking her full potential, fostering a mental fortitude that has propelled her to the pinnacle of the sport.

Walker's contributions to canoe racing extend beyond his role as Carrington's coach. He has served as the head coach of the women's program at Canoe Racing New Zealand, nurturing the talents of aspiring athletes and contributing to the overall success of the national team.
